The Energy Systems Program Manager will be responsible for establishing the Energy Systems Program at the new Global Research OGTC in Oklahoma, including the hiring of a world-class technical team, the procurement and installation of the Energy Systems Laboratory infrastructure, and the development and execution of a strong integrated energy systems program portfolio, in conjunction with the broader network of GE and GE Global Research technologists.
The Energy Systems Program Manager will demonstrate accountability for functional, business, and broad company objectives. In this role you will integrate and develop processes that meet business needs across the organization, manage complex issues within functional area(s) of expertise, be involved in long-term planning, and contribute to the overall business strategy.
The OGTC will focus on applied technologies and commercial innovation, therefore this role will require an application focus to make systems cleaner, safer, better, cheaper, faster and smarter to optimize the important role of oil and gas in the broad energy systems
As the Energy System Manager, you will:
  • Lead the hiring of an Energy Systems team of up to 25 researchers, focused on the development of energy systems and optimization, and controls and systems applications.
  • Lead the procurement and installation of experimental equipment, establishing a state-of-the-art laboratory, with a strong focus on EHS and process rigor.
  • Lead the development of an integrated Energy Systems program portfolio, focused on Oil & Gas technologies.
  • Manage the team in all aspects, such as career development, project staffing and execution, compensation planning, performance management, and financial controllership.
  • Establish strong linkages to the broader GE and GE Global Research network working in technology areas critical to the development of Energy Systems.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Petroleum, Civil, Industrial, Electrical, Energy, Mechanical, or other related engineering.
  • At least 8 years' Oil & Gas industry experience
  • At least 5 years’ experience leading technical teams in a technical organization.
  • Utility or Energy consulting experience
  • Strong Economics background
  • Generation and transmission & distribution of electricity and natural gas knowledge
  • Strong systems analysis and modeling experience
  • Familiarity with the organization’s core technologies: Production Systems, Well Construction, Water, CO2, and Energy Systems.
  • Working knowledge of regulatory process and PUCs
  • Infrastructure knowledge and understanding
  • End-user application knowledge
  • Innovation experience to maximize the value of GE’s broad portfolio of products and services
  • Strong national & global energy networks
  • Extensive experience and understanding of energy demand and markets
  • Demonstrated experience in developing & managing operating budgets.
  • Data acquisition and management experience
  • Demonstrated analytical skills
  • Ability to influence as well as establish good relationships and drive change across functional & global boundaries
