Responsibilities

The Senior Internal Assurance Analyst/ Risk Manager II provides assurance to RBS Corporate Services Americas (CSA)  functional managers, Divisional Policy Standard Owners (DPSOs), and Risk management that business risk and control processes are consistent with corporate direction and policies. Internal Assurance supports DPSOs by providing independent assessment of the adequacy and effectiveness of policy implementation at the business or function level.  This may include leading targeted or themed reviews of business processes, regulatory requirements, and where indicated, by conducting independent sampling and testing of high risk assets and controls. Role holders are in a highly visible role and are expected to foster proactive and professional relationships with the stakeholders and to provide an independent and challenging view of the overall risk and control environment.

The Sr. Internal Assurance Analyst/Risk Manager II will define and document the scope, objective, approach, testing strategy and timeline of the assurance review in a Terms of Reference, in conjunction with the Internal Assurance Team lead, CSA Head of Risk, and stakeholders. Information is gathered from a variety of sources including interviews and research. Data is analyzied against expected regulatory and process control.  Where gaps are indicated, sample evidence is obtained.  The consolidated findings are documented in an executive-level report which is presented to CSA leadership and stakeholders. The analyst describes the level of risk, suggests the risk impact rating, and makes recommendations for remediation, which may include opening self-identified issues or conducting self-monitoring.

Internal Assurance is a high-performance team of professionals who proactively identify opportunities for change and provide the objective feedback required to maintain a robust risk structure.



Qualifications

Excellent risk and analytical skills required.

Experience gathering information from a range of sources and methods e.g. data collection, interviews, meetings, review of processes, manuals and documentation.

Excellent writing and verbal skills; Demonstrated ability to document results, gaps and associated risks in a clearly understandable fashion. Reports are presented to divisional executives, audit and/or regulators. A writing sample will be requested.

Excellent interpersonal skills required in order to engage and interface with colleagues at all levels and act as a trusted advisor to divisional managers and stakeholders.

Advanced knowledge of MS Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Visio (process mapping and org charts).

In depth knowledge of financial services industry or regulatory compliance requirements such as GLBA, Sarbanes-Oxley (SOx), or Information Security principles is preferred.

Background in risk management principles, issue management and experience with ORC is highly desired.

Education and Experience:

 Bachelor Degree required, Master's Degree preferred

5 + years in a Risk Management, Audit, Assurance or Compliance function or related experience in the financial services industry.

Hours per Week:   40
Work Schedule:    Monday-Friday 8:00AM-5:00PM
