Income/Tax Specialist (Job Number: 1314950)

Description

The incumbent is responsible for monitoring daily and weekly reports for multiple markets. S/He will be responsible for all functions related to the posting of accurate and timely income payments on global securities for all The Bank of New York Mellon client accounts. This includes reconciling/monitoring account entitlements between the Custody Management System (CMS) and subcustodians and analyzing subcustodian income announcements and pre-advices to ensure receivables are accurate on CMS and posted to client accounts. S/he will perform reconciliations at the announcement level to resolve variances between IAS and CMS prior to ex date and analyze other vendor information to assure details are announced on CMS and IAS. S/he will process tax reclaims on global securities as well as American Depository Receipts for assigned markets. This will include creating tax forms, updating the status of tax reclaims CMS, corresponding with subcustodians, sponsoring paying agents, certifying tax authorities and internal business groups. S/he will monitor and track outstanding reclaims for assigned markets. S/he will also be responsible for understanding market specific documentation requirements for tax purposes. The specialists will review the Tax Reclaim Imaging System for required documents and log requests for document outstanding. S/he will be responsible for reconciling and posting tax reclaim payments and maintaining complete files for audit purposes.

Qualifications

The qualified candidate will have a BA/BS degree or the equivalent of 1-2 years of industry experience. S/he will have excellent verbal/written communication skills. S/he will have the ability to prioritize work and meet aggressive deadlines, be able to research and resolve inquiries expeditiously in assigned markets and handle many tasks at once. S/he must be detail-oriented, organized, and have the ability to work both independently and as part of a team. She/he must have working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Access.
