Securities Prime Brokerage and Financing Market Risk team is responsible for market risk management of the business. The Department focuses on the market risk associated with the intraday and overnight extension of collateralized credit to clients and sets clients' leverage limits based on a thorough and continuous analysis of the risks inherent in each portfolio and each portfolio's investment strategy. Client portfolios are analyzed and evaluated through extensive simulation analysis designed to estimate market related risks. The Department is part of the Corporate and Investment Bank ("CIB") Market Risk group, an independent control group responsible for the market risk management of all businesses within the CIB.



Job Description

The Vice President will be covering Securities Prime Brokerage and Financing with a primary focus on electronic trading risk and a secondary focus on Securities Prime Brokerage risk ("Securities PB") . Electronic trading clients are predominantly hedge fund and broker dealer customers of Securities PB that actively trade in electronic equities and listed derivative markets. Electronic trading clients are subject to a more extensive form of risk oversight that requires management of market risk on an intraday basis. Securities PB Risk Management covers Prime Brokerage Hedge Fund, Broker Dealer, and other institutional clients. Securities PB clients trade/hold/finance equities, listed derivatives, fixed income instruments, convertible bonds, futures and FX in both cash and synthetic form. The focus of risk management for this client base is on an overnight, i.e., next day basis.

Responsibilities
  • Set, monitor, and enforce various intraday risk limits for electronic trading clients.
  • Review and recommend leverage and trading limits for prospective Securities PB and electronic trading clients. This requires clear communication of Risk policies and views to both the client and Sales.
  • Communicate with electronic trading desk, sales team, and clients frequently.
  • Manage multiple projects focused on development and continued improvement of risk technology and infrastructure that enables the team to effectively measure and monitor market risk on an intraday basis.
  • Coordinate with technology and operate teams on issues related to continued and smooth operation of intraday trading risk system.
  • Monitor and analyze market trends and movements. This involves observing market trends and estimating the significance they will have on client portfolios.
  • Daily monitoring of Securities PB portfolios and providing of commentary of market risk positions with the aim to identify material risk exposures and concentrations. Daily due diligence and attention to detail is critical in this role.
