  • Perform small audits and support sales tax exams personnel in audit issue resolution and data gathering and development.
  • Reconcile sales tax returns to underlying return details, general ledgers, and systems of original entry to support exams.
  • Develop an in-depth knowledge of General Electric Company and its industry to identify sales tax issues and value-add services.
  • Develop an in-depth functional knowledge of company buy-to-pay and invoicing systems to support the sales tax audit function.
  • Create, maintain and update tax rules within transaction tax calculation systems.
  • Perform sales tax research using sources such as state and local tax Statutes, Regulations, Code/Administrative Authority and reputable tax research organizations.
  • Prepare written memoranda to identify, analyze, resolve, and document tax issues associated with sales tax audits and refund claims.
  • Assist in the development of systemic improvements to General Electric Company's sales tax compliance and exams processes using appropriate lean six sigma quality rigor.
  • Participate in the training of General Electric Company finance, operations and other personnel on sales and use tax matters.
  • Assist in process improvement projects related to the transmission of sales and use tax data used within return preparation and filing.
  • Assist Corporate Tax Managers and Senior Exams Analysts in the facilitation and implementation of sales and use tax planning opportunities.
  • Assist Corporate Tax Managers and Business Development Teams with merger, acquisition and divestiture reviews and integration of businesses to centralized compliance processes.
  • Basic Requirements:

  • Bachelors degree
  • Proficient in personal computer database and spreadsheet applications
  • Excellent communication, analytical, research and negotiation skills

  • Bachelors degree in Accounting or Finance preferred
  • Have or actively pursuing professional designation, i.e. CPA, JD, CMI
  • Ability to work & act independently on multiple projects
  • Ability to resolve issues with minimal oversight
  • Sales tax experience in a corporate tax or public accounting environment
  • Experience or proficiency with Sabrix/Taxware/Vertex transaction tax calculation systems
  • Experience working in a matrixed environment
