Job description

As a Network Engineer on the Watson Cloud Operational Support Services (OSS) and Infrastructure team, you will be part of a dynamic team responsible for the delivery of network solutions into a wide range of Clients and Business Sectors. You will be responsible for implementing and supporting Local Area Network & Wide Area Network (LAN & WAN) for a large-scale enterprise environments Watson delivery.
The Network Engineer will work directly with teams across IBM, ATT, and vendors (Cisco, Juniper, etc.) for the purpose to support Watson network infrastructure in the delivery of strategic manage services. Candidate will apply knowledge in installing managing and supporting shared Network and Data Center virtualization technologies. Engineer will support the implementation of a network infrastructure (switches, routers, load balancing, firewall and other network devices)
Engineer will work on the lifecycle of infrastructure project and support (Design, Implement, Transition and Operation) and will be involved in Implement, Transition and Steady State Operation support.
This includes:

• Network management - Managing and supporting the Watson Network & IT Security devices. Collaborate with the Watson Architects, Engineers, and Subject Matter Experts (SME)
• Manage key elements and technology in the network infrastructure (Switches, Routers, local Load balancers, Firewall, IP management, DNS/DHCP, Routing, VLAN trunking, VPN, etc…)
• Performing routine Network related administration tasks such as IOS upgrades, Patch Management & any configuration addition, Password changes, Backup/ Restorations backup management, and Network related basic Hardening etc.
• Firewall complete configuration and trouble-shooting such as Failover Configuration, NAT configuration and ACL configuration.
• Configuring and troubleshooting Cisco Routers. Configuring OSPF / BGP / MPLS routing protocol; VLAN, Port Security and SPANNING-TREE on Switches. And configuring Multi-layer Switches; NAT (Nat exemption, Static Nat, Policy Nat); IPSEC VPN, IPSEC with GRE VPN, SSL VPN, and GET VPN.
• Securing Network devices by disabling unwanted services, access restriction of networks logging and configuring secure access per network hardening requirements.
• Managing and administration of IPS, configuration of VLANs pair, configuring new Signature.
• Network Technologies (LAN/WAN Technologies) Local Area Network/Wide Area Network
• Configured network Routers, Switches, Load Balancer, Firewalls, and other network devices in both a real time (steady state) environment and a new installation to be transformed to steady state.
• Managing administration of Load Balancer, Firewalls, other Network devices and Network topologies, involving network solution design / architecture of Watson network infrastructure. .
• Understanding of information security concepts such as -Firewall (Check Point & Juniper firewalls), Intrusion Detection System, Packet filtering, Content Filtering, Authentication, etc.

Required

• High School Diploma/GED
• At least 1 year experience in Install, Manage and Support Network Systems
• At least 1 year experience in Apply Knowledge of Network Mgmt Tools
• At least 1 year experience in Problem Determination and Support of Networks
• At least 1 year experience in Network Installation and support, firewall management and updates
• Readiness to travel 10% travel annually
• U.S. citizenship required
• English: Fluent

Preferred

• Technical Diploma in Information Technology
• At least 3 years experience in Install, Manage and Support Network Systems
• At least 3 years experience in Apply Knowledge of Network Mgmt Tools
• At least 3 years experience in Problem Determination and Support of Networks
• At least 3 years experience in Network Installation and support, firewall management and updates
• At least 3 years experience in Cisco, Juniper and other network, security and intrusion detection products, teamwork, communication and collaboration
