Description
The Paralegal -- Legal Affairs will be a member of a global team consisting of 18 lawyers and paraprofessionals responsible for drafting and negotiating domestic and global business travel services agreements for American Express Business Travel.
This team is responsible for the contract acquisition and retention support for 500+ global internal Sales and Client Management clients. This position will report directly to a Senior Manager.
The position will be located either in our offices in New York, New York, and/or in a virtual environment.
The Paralegal -- Legal Affairs will work with business partners to structure transactions; draft and review all contract documentation; negotiate legal and business terms; ensure that all contracts comply with internal legal and business policies and procedures; facilitate the execution and safekeeping of final documentation; and general administrative responsibilities connected to the work of the Contracts Department.
Other general responsibilities include working closely with the General Counsel's Office, Finance, Risk, Operations, and Compliance within American Express to ensure that contracts accurately incorporate all required language.
Lastly, this role will be expected to lead strategic initiatives to drive efficiencies.
Qualifications
- Excellent written and oral communication skills along with a demonstrated ability to collaborate with internal and external constituencies to drive business results.
- Position requires prudent judgment and ability to balance risk and internal compliance and controls with revenue goals in an autonomous environment.
- High level of integrity required for handling sensitive and confidential information.
- Demonstrated ability to work with a sense of urgency and under pressure, as needed to handle multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
- Ability to interface effectively and diplomatically with executives and executive assistants across the organization.
- Candidate must possess at least five (5) years of contract negotiation and drafting experience and/or legal experience.
- Attorney preferred.
