Job Description This is a technical leadership position for a corporate aerosol expert in the Collaborative Sciences Division RD&E, and will have the principal responsibility to build & drive a shared global aerosol technology strategy across divisions aligned to the business needs. We seek someone who has broad industrial experience in aerosol product design and development to provide technical leadership and innovation to SC Johnson’s global aerosol development programs.
Primary Accountabilities:
• Strengthen SC Johnson’s aerosol technology capabilities and knowledge and broadly disseminate them into our global product development programs to drive product innovation.
• Proactively engage externally with CSPA , DOT and other agencies to drive SCJ POV, & internally with councils / forums & link knowledge back to divisions
• Partner with Commercialization Sciences to build a knowledge center of global standards and methods for aerosol design validation, for product development teams to use in development & commercialization
• Function as the technology expert for aerosol components with suppliers (existing projects) & supplier innovation (new technologies); also for formulations and processing of aerosols.
• Act as a technical consultant to the product development teams that are developing aerosols in the business divisions, and for teams mitigating consumer or product issues.
• Organize and lead aerosol technology related training across global SCJ
Minimum Requirements:
• Minimum B.S. (M.S. preferred) in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering
• Senior professional with proven technical expertise (10 years) in the relevant technology or having the appropriate mix of skills, technical expertise, and demonstrated accomplishments
• Proactive and results oriented, with suitable project management skills.
• Communication skills to effectively converse with and align technical consultants, scientists, project leaders and senior management.
• Proven track record of managing technical projects, and translating ideas, methods, and solutions into practical applications.
• Possesses a network of internal and external experts to use as sources for technical solutions and technical capability development.
• Ability to synthesize current state of technology capability and design approaches to enhance, and execute against plans.
• Demonstrated leadership, influence, and teamwork skills to effectively work across internal organizational boundaries.
• Judgment and experience necessary to make sound business decisions relating to Aerosol System development.
Specific experiences/skills:
• Demonstrated experience in product development (formulation, filling/processing) and manufacturing process knowledge
• Has in-depth knowledge of aerosol propellants, formulations and delivery systems as well as experience with technologies that will drive products with improved sustainability characteristics.
• Has in-depth knowledge of packaging components including cans, overcap, coating/seaming compounds, spray property, and valve understanding - design and selection.
• A track record of successful interactions with industrial trade associations and regulatory agencies.
• Proficient in statistics and experimental design (R-DOE).
