With a global workforce of more than 60,000 people, American Express is recognized throughout the world as a great place to work. We are currently seeking a Director of Global Executive Recruitment for our New York City office.
The Director will report into the Vice President of Executive Recruitment. This individual will create and execute executive recruitment strategies; recruit at the highest levels in the organization, starting at the VP level (Band 45+); manage the executive recruiting processes for all Blue Box business divisions and all regions (global); and partner with the Vice President, Executive Recruitment on strategies and results for the executive staffing function. Must build and sustain successful relationships both inside and outside the company. These relationships will include the Global Recruitment & Workforce Planning unit, Business Unit Leaders and executive hiring leaders, Human Resources Relationship Leaders and other Human Resources Specialists (i.e. Compensation, Global Mobility), providers of recruitment services, and executive job candidates. Will interview and qualify executive candidates; enable attraction of external executive level candidates through influence, marketing and issue resolution; promote/enhance the AMEX employment brand to the executive candidate marketplace. Will qualify, select, and manage the performance and relationships with a specialized pool of executive staffing vendors, as well as build and manage successful partnerships with other external vendors.
Qualifications
* Experience gained at a retained executive search firm with proven capability to source, qualify, and attract executive candidates using non-fee baring methodologies.
* Experience with multiple executive functions and job categories.
* Extensive background in financial services, payments and consumer products industries particularly helpful.
* Strong foundation in Human Resources functions which impact recruitment (compensation, generalist, employee relations, succession planning, etc.).
* The ability to understand the organization, the positions, and the diverse businesses that comprise American Express.
* The ability to successfully market opportunities to executive candidates (close the deal).
* Excellent consultative, communication, collaboration, listening, influencing skills at the executive level.
* Outstanding customer servicing skills combined with a strong sense of urgency, drive for results, and business judgment.
* Outstanding and proven recruitment, selection and assessment expertise at executive levels.
* Knowledge of the external executive marketplace; best practices.
* Commitment to diversity, compliance, and brand.
* Big picture thinker balanced with strong orientation to process quality.
* Strong project management and organization skills, especially in managing large-scale, multiple customer projects.
* Past accomplishment in delivering cost-effective, time sensitive process solutions to customers, especially in the area of executive recruitment and selection.
* Knowledge of employment compliance requirements.
