POSITION SUMMARY:
 
The Complex Business Development Manager (CBDM) reports jointly to the Regional Business Development Manager (RBDM) and Complex Manager.  The Business Development Field Team is committed to and accountable for organizational growth.   They play a leading role in improving the proficiency of Morgan Stanley Wealth Management Financial Advisors (FA), and provide local connectivity to vast resources of the Firm. They deliver real operating impact through a more coordinated and focused approach towards executing Morgan Stanley Wealth Management strategic and tactical initiatives with their partners across National Sales and the Business Development Organization.
 
DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:
 
Growth
·       Partner with the RBDM and Complex Manager in achieving the Complex’s Challenge Goals and leading all efforts that drive revenue and asset growth
·       Effectively collaborate with internal and external product specialist to drive both tactical and strategic growth opportunities of the Complex; provide local reinforcement and accountability of targeted business opportunities at the FA level; connect Morgan Stanley Wealth Management specialist with the right advisors, advocate timely initiatives across market, etc.
·       Support lateral recruiting efforts including sourcing and augmenting the transition process of new hires to Morgan Stanley Wealth Management. CBDMs are critical in helping new recruits navigate the firm and connect with appropriate resources of the platform. This includes ability to 'translate' competitor offerings into Morgan Stanley Wealth Management platform and how recruits will be able to continue to meet their clients’ needs upon joining the firm
·       Supporting role in the development and improving the success of Financial Advisor Associates (FAA)
 
Proficiency
·       Delivers high impact coaching towards improving FA proficiency levels across key practice management and client engagement disciplines
·       Advocate FA pursuit and achievement of new industry designations
 
Connectivity
·       Local point of contact  to assist FAs in leveraging the firm's robust resources ranging from our products and services platform, key technology resources, leadership/content, etc.
·       Develops and coordinates Complex Client Events at the local level for $1mm+ relationships and other community outreach efforts
 

Qualifications

Education and/or Experience
·       Bachelor’s degree required or equivalent education or experience
·       At least 4 years of experience as a Financial Advisor or comparable product area experience
 
Licenses and Registrations
·       Active Series 7, 8 (or 9 and 10), and 63, 65 (or 66) and 3 registrations
 
Skills
·       Effective written and verbal communication skills
·       Strong attention to detail
·       Ability to interact with senior management team, Financial Advisors, clients and corporate and field personnel as needed
·       Ability to own projects at a Complex level
·       Ability to organize and prioritize work, meet deadlines, and complete projects

·       Dual direct reporting to: Regional Business Development Manager and Complex Manager
