Position Purpose:




  • The position will primarily provide support to the Americas Steam Cracker (Ethylene Plants) and Aromatics units

  • Proactively provide Technical Services to Shell Downstream, Joint Venture and Third Party customer plants

  • Ensure that proper technology input is provided to new projects

  • Continue to develop expertise in the Ethylene & Aromatics Technology in line with the Shell strategy

  • Initiate, develop and manage Standards, Guidelines and Successful Practices in support of the Ethylene and Aromatics Global Teams


Position Description:

The following is a broad description of what will be included in the job deliverables. However the individual will shape this to some extent according to his/her own special skills and to the Business needs.




  • Provide Technical Services for selected Shell Downstream and 3rd party customers which includes the responsibility for agreement on Customer programs/resources, providing expertise, organizing and sourcing contribution of other experts carrying out reviews, and delivering High Quality Services

  • Provide technological guidance to new projects which includes the critical review and evaluation of the various technologies considered for a project with extensive discussion with technology providers, risk analysis, technical specifications, etc.

  • Continue to develop know-how and expertise in the Ethylene and Aromatics technology in line with the Shell strategy which includes the ability to understand the Business and Manufacturing objectives and constraints

  • Identify, develop and manage Standards, Guidelines and Successful practices within the Global Ethylene and Aromatics teams

  • As the Projects and Technology representative lead or participate in joint studies for improving performance (benchmarking studies gap closure reviews, reliability improvement teams etc.


Experience and Qualifications:


  • Must be eligible to work in the US without sponshorship

  • Must have 5+ years of process engineering experience, preferably with at least 4 years or more prior experience in Steam Cracking (Ethylene) or Aromatics technology either in Manufacturing and/or Chemical's Technology Team

  • Must have a BS, MS or PhD in Chemical Engineering or related discipline from an accredited university or college

  • Process Modeling experience required

  • Manufacturing experience preferred

  • Must be able to work in a diverse work environment
