Job Summary

This senior level position is responsible for leading the Apple Retail Team’s global digital marketing initiatives. The role is an integral member of the Retail Marketing Leadership team in delivering on the vision of Apple’s award-winning Retail Business. Retail Marketing is responsible for effectively communicating the Apple Retail Brand, through all stages of building awareness, driving customer acquisition, delivering an unparalleled buying experience, and building loyalty. To successfully meet the high internal and external standards and expectations, the global leader must convey a deep understanding of the Apple Brand, the Apple Retail philosophy, strong business savvy and the ability to motivate cross-functional groups to deliver flawless execution on our shared vision. This is a key strategic leadership role on a small, dedicated team that is critical to our retail store’s success as we mature our business. If you are passionate about retail, people and technology, flexible and entrepreneurial and have a demonstrated skill set in building wining teams, you can make an immediate impact.  As a member of the Corporate Retail Team, this role will report to the Director of Global Retail Marketing, (Cupertino Based) with the primary responsibility of developing and implementing successful digital marketing initiatives designed to build Apple’s brand awareness, increase market share, earn customer loyalty, foster community and drive sales. This role will manage a growing team of 4 to 6 currently and have senior level cross-functional management responsibilities. This Cupertino position requires close partnership with other members of the Corporate Retail team throughout the World. The Digital Director will manage the development, execution, and strategic direction for Apple retail’s marketing strategy in the digital environment. S/he is responsible for developing and managing a comprehensive online marketing strategy and messaging on our retail web, Apple Store applications, direct to customer communication and social media. The Digital Director will also support editorial decisions, design plans, and overall strategic planning for on-line demand generation in partnership with our Online Store, Mobile Product Development and Marcom Teams. This is a leadership position that requires someone who is an innovator and can see around corners to anticipate emerging technologies and environments that could be leveraged to enhance our retail store customer and employee experience.

Key Qualifications

  • Required Skills
  • 10+ years marketing experience largely in senior management level roles
  • With 7+ of that time working on digital marketing experiences, including managing strategy development, content acquisition, and messaging
  • Demonstrated solid management experience and track record in leading, motivating and building strong teams
  • Demonstrated experience enabling strong interdepartmental relationships and ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
  • Proven ability to build consensus and work effectively within a cross-functional teams in a highly matrixed organization
  • Comfortably handles risk and uncertainty, energized by tough decisions
  • Additional language fluencies a plus

Description

Responsibilities • Develop a retail messaging strategy that supports Apple Retail’s goals and oversee all aspects of its implementation with an emphasis on demand generation and building community. • Websites -- manage the Apple retail’s presence across all Apple Retail and relevant Apple web properties including Apple.com and Apple Retail web, inspire development to incorporate new features and functionality • Email Marketing/-- manage the messaging for Apple Retail’s email marketing program. • Social Media -- develop and manage Apple Retail’s presence across all social properties. Application Content– manage strategy and messaging on Apple’s iPad and iPhone applications and help lead development for future feature enhancements and new product roadmaps. • Content and Community building – identify and execute strategic efforts to capture our store’s compelling event and program content. • International team – play a leadership role working with our International team to maximize collaboration Develop and manage a team of 4 to 6 people.

Education

Minimum BA in Marketing, Business or related field. MBA a plus.
