The LMS (Learning Management System) Administrator/Sr. LMS Admin supports Genentech Commercial Operations through coordination and administration of the LMS as this relates to Commercial Operations employee learning and learning-related activities. The LMS Administrator works closely with a host of internal and external customers, partners, and stakeholders, including other LMS administrators and IT. In addition to LMS coordination and administration, the LMS administrator is expected to complete administrative duties, project development, testing, implementation and trouble-shooting for other Learning Technology applications, and provide back-up for other Commercial Operations LMS administrators, as needed and appropriate. LMS Administrators may be assigned specific areas of responsibility such as Commercial Operations compliance training administration, tracking and reporting.Example Duties and Responsibilities:
- Evaluates new or updated training needs and requirements in light of existing training programs, systems, other tools and administration
- Recommends appropriate updates or changes to LMS administration, applications, functionalities and/or associated processes
- Works closely with his/her manager and other CT & D management and staff to develop and align training policies, procedures, practices and resources, as these relate to optimized use of the LMS
- May participate in business and user requirements' gathering and needs analysis
- Works with his/her manager, other internal and/or external partners and stakeholders to scope and plan for LMS systems projects. Includes interactions with IT and external vendors
- Responsible for the ongoing coordination and administration of the LMS in support of Commercial Operations:
- Collaborates and communicates with internal and external teams, vendors and customers to effectively and efficiently deliver LMS systems or other related projects
- Creates all components and qualifications in LMS in accordance with department procedures
- Responsible for filing and maintaining training documentation for all Commercial Operations employees for easy retrieval
- Manages the assignment of qualifications to Commercial Operations new hires. Enrolls learners and records learning events with the highest levels of accuracy. Assigns and removes components and qualifications from individual learning plans
- Monitors completion of qualifications and/or components. Collects training records, reviews records and assessments for completion and accuracy
- Communicates assignments and completion information to Commercial Operations learners and their managers
- Sets-up assessments in the LMS
- Produces regular and ad hoc training reporting. Generates LMS and Business Objects reports. Formats reports in appropriate format for learner/manager distribution and use
- Quickly and effectively assesses, researches and resolves LMS problems independently. Escalates LMS questions as needed to IT for further review and resolution
- Conducts and coordinates training surveys and survey summary reporting
- Participates in other projects, as assigned, including CT & D initiatives and/or enterprise-wide projects. Includes administration, project development, testing, implementation, maintenance and trouble-shooting for other Learning Technologies applications
- Provides regular project status updates and seeks guidance from his/her manager or others on project conflicts or issues
- Provides expert back-up for other Commercial Operations LMS administrators, as and when requested, needed or otherwise appropriate
- Complies with all laws, regulations and policies that govern the conduct of Genentech activities
Who You Are
Qualifications and Experience: unless stated as "preferred" or "a plus," all other criteria is required- Bachelors Degree (technology, education, business, project management or related disciplines preferred)
- Average of 2 or more years' work experience in training & development, learning technologies or related project management, preferably gained within the pharmaceutical, biotech or related industry
- Previous technical experience, such as eLearning, web-based content development, database management, or content management
- Must possess a strong understanding of technology and demonstrate the ability to trouble-shoot problems and conduct efficient and effective follow-through with end users
- Outstanding skills and proficiencies with various Microsoft Office applications, e.g. Word and Excel
- LMS (learning management systems) and Business Objects experience is preferred
- Experience with standard project life-cycle management is a plus
- Previous field sales, field management, or product marketing experience in the pharmaceutical, biotech, or other related industry is a plus
- Proven track record of meeting or exceeding objectives & goals
- Business travel, by air or car, is required for regular internal and external business meetings
