Tax Team Lead II (Job Number: 1313334)

Description

The incumbent is responsible for supervising staff in the performance of all respective functions relating to the timely processing of tax documentation, withholding and reporting. S/he will need to be more independent than a Tax Team Lead I. S/he will conduct regular meetings and one-on-one staff discussions. S/he is responsible to identify potential areas of exposure to BNY Mellon and oversee implementation of new controls and facilitate or assist with corrective action and loss reports. S/he will maintain and enforce group procedures and contribute to the development of new procedures including recommendations, testing of systems enhancements and new products and implementation. S/he will work closely with other operating groups (Account Opening, Income, Corporate Actions, Security Master, etc), Corporate Tax, and internal/external client business groups. S/he must maintain a superior level of customer satisfaction with internal and external customers. S/he will train and develop staff on an ongoing basis as well as facilitate Performance Management Reviews for each employee including establishing goals and midyear reviews. S/he will be responsible for motivating and coaching staff, working with the manager on various HR issues, and adhering to department budgets. S/he will be responsible for contributing to the monthly reporting tools such as KPI's (Key Performance Indicators) and monthly highlights. Travel may be required.

Qualifications

The qualified candidate should possess a BS/BA degree plus 5-7 years of custody experience, preferably in tax or 2-4 years of management experience. S/he will have excellent verbal/written communication skills and interpersonal skills. S/he will have the ability to work under pressure and prioritize and handle many tasks at once. S/he must possess strong analytical skills, be organized, and have the ability to work individually as well as cooperatively across many teams. S/he must understand the importance of, and be capable of, developing and motivating a team. She/he must have strong PC skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (i.e. Excel, Word, Access and Power Point.) S/he is detailed, control-oriented and must possess analytical skills with the ability to observe a process, identify inefficiencies and document enhancements and alternatives to improve overall operations. S/he will represent the department both internally and externally.
