The Staff Engineer will provide technical
leadership and expertise to support the development of Embedded Avionics
Software, FMS, Airport Surface Map Systems, and Datalink, products. In
this role, you will utilize your experience or expertise to solve
problems, develop and execute objectives for yourself and others, and
have the ability to affect business goals. QR2X13.
In addition, you will:
Validate system requirements and author embedded software for avionics systems and sub-systems
Become a technical expert in the area of core responsibility
Work in a multidisciplinary team, architect, design, develop, and update functionality for real-time embedded avionics software
Identify, evaluate, and occasionally develop engineering
tools and processes necessary to meet the project’s engineering and
business goals
Provide timely communications on significant issues or developments, maintaining a focus on safety and reliability
Conduct Problem (PR) investigation and resolution
Participate in software structural coverage analysis and test for 100% coverage of airborne software
Participate actively in software design and code reviews
Write embedded avionics software functional test cases and procedures to verify software functional requirements
Develop software verification strategies and test procedures to verify software functional requirements
Execute the design, analysis, or evaluation of assigned projects using sound scientific / engineering principles and practices
Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science or a related Technical discipline
Minimum of 5 years of experience in Embedded Software DevelopmentELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:
Willingness and ability to travel at least 10% of the time
Legal authorization to work in the U.S. is required. We

Experience in embedded Military and Commercial Avionics product development
Experience with embedded software development lifecycle within Aerospace or similar controlled industry
Willingness and motivation to learn new processes and tools
Strong oral and written communication skills
Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
Ability to coordinate several projects simultaneously
Proven analytical and organizational ability
Capable of developing and writing specifications in an engineering environment
Minimum of 10 years of experience in embedded product development
Minimum of 5 years of experience in Avionics development
Development to MIL-STD and DO-178B Standards
Ability to use project cost and schedule requirements as part of the overall best technical solution.
Familiarity and experience with state-of-the-art
model-based development, software implementation, testing, and
robustness methods
Experience of a Graphical Modeling Language with Simulation
(e.g. Matlab / Simulink / Stateflow, Statemate, Scade, Enterprise
Architect)
Provide work direction to internal and external IPDT members
Participate in a team as a team player
Experience directing and participating in requirements
definition and trace, architecture planning, design implementation,
documentation, testing, verification and production support efforts
Ability to provide most cost effective and technically correct solution to internal and external customers
Experience and Leadership of Embedded Software Development
efforts using C & C++ languages, RTOSs or MBD in a DO-178B Avionics
development environment
Experience developing x86 or Power PC embedded systems
with: Ethernet, USB, RS232/422, ARINC 429, MIL-STD-1553, ARINC 739,
ARINC 629, ARINC 661, ARINC 664, Video / Display Interfaces, Discrete
I/O and/or Analog I/O
