Description
The
Worldwide Operations Supply Demand Product Planner will own the product
availability and revenue plan attainment for a product line. This
person will act as focal point in development, communication, and
execution of worldwide product supply and contingency plans, to meet
Apple’s overall financial goals. Initial product line focus will be
determined at time of hire, and future opportunities could be in any of
Apple’s product lines, including iMac, Mac Pro, MacBook, MacBook Pro,
iPod, iPad, iPhone, Refurb, and Accessories. World class Operations
excellence is a cornerstone of Apple's success, and the Operations
Supply Demand Product Manager plays a critical role in ensuring
Operations and financial success for Apple.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
1) Analyze forecasted demand, inventory, and channel and direct sell
through, to develop weekly and quarterly supply plans that meet Apple’s
financial plan. Evaluate risks, plan and implement contingency plans to
mitigate.
2) Analyze product order bookings, backlog, and billings on a daily
basis. Identify problem areas, and drive appropriate functional groups
to correct.
3) Coordinate closely with regional product planning teams to ensure
supply plans meet each region’s sales requirement. Coordinate with
Marketing and New Product Operations teams to set launch quantities and
to ensure smooth product transitions.
4) Partner with global procurement teams to allocate constrained
components, ensure aggressive raw material inventory targets are met,
and ensure minimal material obsolescence during product transition.
5) Present product status updates on a weekly basis to Operations
executive management team.
6) Improve product planning processes. Identify improvement
opportunities, marshal resources, and drive projects to completion, to
achieve targeted measurable benefits.
Education
The successful candidate will
have 3 - 5 years Operations experience, preferably in a high tech or
computer-related industry. Prior experience in product planning,
production control, inventory management, or production / manufacturing
operations is preferred. The candidate must combine a working knowledge
of world class supply chain practices, strong analytical capabilities,
and business savvy. The candidate must be able to exert tactful
influence in a matrixed organization - must be a strong team player and
communicator. Candidate should be comfortable presenting to executive
management. Additional requirements include the ability to both think
strategically and execute tactically, a persistent attention to detail,
and a high level of comfort in working with numbers.
