Key Qualifications

  • - Experience in the design, deployment and support of Factory Automation Systems.
  • - A working understanding of high volume manufacturing systems is a must.
  • - Experience in consumer electronic products SMT, Assembly, Test, or Packaging operations.
  • - Experience with optical inspection, lasers and chemical cleaning desirable
  • - Applications engineering experience a plus.
  • - System engineering background and experience a plus.
  • - Must have cross discipline capability and knowledge.
  • - Must have direct functional understanding of various aspects of the automation and robotics field, with prior work experience in the creating of machine design, integration or support.

Description

In this highly visible role, our Automation Process Development Engineers are responsible for the development and implementation of high precision Factory / Mfg Automation processes in a high volume environment for Apple Products. You will enjoy key decision making in conjunction with hands-on problem solving and analysis on-site. You will help deliver automation solutions, drive development and implementation of high precision Factory / Mfg Automation processes in a high volume environment working on cutting edge apple products. Essential Job Functions: - Evaluate existing factory processes and identify opportunities for savings and improvement through the use of automation technology. - Work with internal and external stakeholders to assess and define requirements for automation of high volume consumer electronics SMT, Assembly, Test, and Packaging operations. - Work with internal and external partners on the design and deployment of complex factory automation systems. Manage detailed requirements definition, review and approve system designs and oversee implementation. - Work with production teams and vendors to scale and maintain factory automation systems across multiple factories. - Partner with Product Design Engineers to identify applications for newly emerging automation technologies on upcoming products. Process Development: • Planning, proposing, and leading experiments to produce timely and accurate analyses used to drive design, development, and supply chain decisions. • Assessing the suitability of a manufacturing technology for a given part design. Planning validation exercises to demonstrate initial feasibility as well as manufacturing capability. Analyzing results of validation exercises and provide technical recommendations. • Reviewing progress of development activities at supplier locations and serve as point of escalation for critical process related issues. New Product Introduction: • Acts as lead engineer to drive process development and capability assessment activities, reviewing part design documentation to ensure alignment with process capability. • Assigns specific tasks and work with Apple suppliers to support process development and/or data gathering activities. Set clear goals for results and provide timely reviews of performance throughout program. • Establish validation procedures to determine acceptance of factory automation solutions into development builds as well as mass production.

Education

MS/BS in Engineering, or equivalent.

Additional Requirements

-Typically requires 5+ years of experience supporting new product launches and new processes within manufacturing operations. Must be experienced at identifying opportunities for savings and improvement through the use of line optimization and automation. - Must have Industry knowledge of the automation industry. - Engineering management experience is a plus. - Travel: Domestic or International travel: 30-40%.
