Job Summary

The IS&T Retail Systems Development team is looking for an experienced back-end web development professional to join a small and highly productive group. The role will involve developing and implementing web-based applications for the Apple Retail Stores worldwide.

Key Qualifications

  • Erlang development experience
  • 3+ years Apple Retail or equivalent experience
  • 3+ years of experience with Apple hardware and software, including the latest version of OS X and iOS
  • Experience with developing distributed, fault-tolerant, highly available, and concurrent systems
  • Experience with HTTP, REST, and modern HTML5 web technologies
  • Experience with NOSQL data stores such as CouchDB, Riak, Hadoop, etc
  • Experience with languages such as Erlang, Haskel, Clojure, Scala, Go
  • Experience with scripting, shell environments, and version control solutions such as Git
  • Understanding of javascript application frameworks like Backbone.js, Angular.js, and Ember.js
  • Must have a solid understanding of the Apple Brand
  • Must have expert knowledge of standard web development practices
  • Able to implement new ideas quickly
  • Thrives in a dynamic and ambiguous work environment
  • Strong team player with a high degree of flexibility
  • Ability to work independently while maintaining a high level of efficiency
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Very detail oriented and organized with a strong discipline of adhering to standards

Description

Design, develop, and implement real time desktop and mobile web applications for use by Apple Retail Store employees worldwide Develop and support innovative internal tools and solutions to meet the team's growing data store and REST services requirements Provide Tier 3 support for all production applications by directly supporting Apple Retail Store issues when required, training Tier 1 and Tier 2 support specialists on improving their level of troubleshooting, and updating support documentation Support internal Quality Assurance testing by collaborating with test leads to create appropriate manual and automated test scripts and addressing issues discovered during the testing process Ensure solutions are built for scalability while meeting established security standards Complete assigned tasks while adhering to the proposed plan, schedule, and budget Publish development status reports for every project to the team lead or project manager Follow established internal coding standards Collaborate with the appropriate teams during development, testing, and support

Education

Bachelor's degree or higher in CS or a related field
