IREX seeks applicants for the position of Program Officer in the Media, Technology and Civil Society Division. The Program Officer will oversee day-to-day operations of programs, provide financial oversight, and contribute to new business development. The position will be based in Washington, but may involve some international travel.
Duties & Responsibilities
  • Coordinate and implement a portfolio of demand driven governance and institutional building programs
  • Monitor all program components and ensure program deliverables are being met
  • Maintain effective relations and coordination with program donors and partners
  • Coordinate program publicity and outreach, including producing regular news and program updates, and promoting program successes to a variety of audiences
  • Ensure that all fiscal and performance activities are in compliance with IREX policies and procedures and USG regulations as applicable.
  • Contribute to new business development efforts, including assessments and proposal writing
  • Provide supervision, mentoring and guidance to junior program staff and partners
Qualifications
  • University degree in relevant field, masters preferred
  • Minimum 3-5 years progressive management experience in international development
  • Strong writing, editing and oral presentation skills, evidenced by professional experience and success
  • Proven supervisory and cross cultural communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills including ability to prioritize and multi-task
  • Proven ability to work as part of a team
  • Flexibility, team spirit and enthusiasm for IREX programs
  • Relevant language abilities and international experience
  • Experience with website analytics and digital security preferred
