Position Summary

Position will oversee the $400m in investments that have been approved for upgrading and increasing the capacity at Novartis OTC manufacturing sites. Working closely with the Head of Finance for Manufacturing and Quality and the Plant Controllers, will be responsible for ensuring that all the approved business cases are implemented in line with the approved funding, and that tracking is in place to call out any expected deviations and preparing proper change controls and securing their approval. Will oversee the capital review request projects, ensuring they are robust, complete, and provide clear direction. This position will report to the Head of Finance Manufacturing and Quality, with a dotted line to the Project Lead for our Lincoln, NE site.

Major Accountabilities:

• Finance Lead for ad-hoc projects for strategic investment decisions, including detailed modeling of financial projections in complex business scenarios
• Oversee the major capital investment plans in our sites through implementing strong financial governance for capital and remediation timelines and spend vs. completion
• Manage project KPI reporting and present to head of Manufacturing and Head of Manufacturing and Quality
• Insure proper controls are in place from a procurement, reporting, and governance perspective. Assess and update FCAR commitments and timelines, ensure proper change controls are in place including approvals according to legal competencies
• Lead the capital appropriations process in close collaboration with the Head of Finance for Manufacturing and Quality and Head of Engineering
• Provide support for decision making and oversight of capital request preparation to ensure we deliver clear, concise, and high quality requests to Senior Management
• Lead the capital budgeting process for the sites, conduct reviews and challenge the plans for necessity and completeness
• Track and consolidate capital spend, providing key inputs to explain variances and provide clear recommendations and corrective actions
• Track the achievement of committed improvements around capital investments to OTC leadership
Education:

• Bachelors degree in a related financial discipline. MBA degree or finance qualification a plus


Experience:

• 5 years of related financial experience in a large multi-national pharmaceutical/OTC or consumer products manufacturing environment, including relevant financial planning and analysis experience and cost accounting experience.
• Experience Implementing financial planning and analysis processes in large, complex organizations, preferably with experience in a multi-national organization
• Experience implementing new processes and driving change
• Presentation experience to senior management
• Knowledge of variance analysis and understanding of accounting systems (SAP or related)
• Demonstrated leadership skills with established track record of success in complex, growing organizations.
• Experience building and developing high performance, cohesive cross functional teams
