The Position

BioOncology Associate Planning Lead or Planning Lead 
The Associate Planning Lead/Planning Lead, BioOncology Access Solutions Coverage and Reimbursement (C&R) provides strategic planning, project and decisions support for BioOncology Access Solutions C&R, e.g. developing and implementing launch strategies, departmental budget development, planning, review, tracking and reporting, departmental process improvement, departmental compliance, new or enhanced departmental technologies, etc. Associate Planning Lead/Planning Leads are assigned their responsibilities based on priorities set by Program management.  Associate Planning Lead/Planning Leads also provide input or feedback into the design and development of other departmental projects or priorities.
  • Supports in development of appropriate departmental budget requirements, headcount and other relevant operating expenses
  • Creates an internal calendar and deliverables relevant to 3-year and 1-year planning processes for team members and all relevant partners/stakeholders
  • Designs and builds economic models to forecast demand, utilization and resource requirements
  • Works closely with partners such as Genentech Informatics (GI) as well as any external technology vendors to develop, implement and maintain effective and streamlined departmental systems and other technology-related resources
  • Identifies, recommends and undertakes special projects, such as departmental process improvements
  • Plays a critical role in the development and review of departmental KPIs (key performance indicators)
  • Plays a critical leadership role in the development and implementation of departmental standard operating procedures (SOPs)
  • Tracks and monitors departmental budgets, produces quarterly reporting on departmental budgets and coordinates quarterly budget reviews with manager and other internal partners/stakeholders
  • Monitors departmental budget expenditure to ensure compliance with set parameters
  • Leads ongoing headcount and infrastructure analysis.  May also include responsibilities for space and other office facilities planning.  Ensures any variances are proactively communicated to appropriate partners/stakeholders
  • May support in departmental compliance as well as various audits and reporting
  • May support in gathering appropriate analytics for regular and ad hoc analysis and reporting
  • Complies with all laws, regulations and policies that govern the conduct of Genentech activities
  • Candidates qualifying at the higher level of Planning Lead will normally demonstrate both the minimum and preferred selection criteria for the role, or beyond

Who You Are

  • Bachelors Degree (general business, finance, information technology, healthcare management, public policy or related disciplines are a plus)
  • A minimum of 3 years' related work experience in healthcare/healthcare reimbursement
  • Some previous work experience in strategic planning, process improvement and/or project management in healthcare/healthcare reimbursement is strongly preferred
  •  Must demonstrate knowledge of issues, trends and needs as these relate to healthcare reimbursement and the managed care environment
  • Previous project management experience with patient database and/or call center systems and technologies is strongly preferred
  • Previous experience in other functions within the pharmaceutical, biotech or related industry is a plus, e.g., field account management, field reimbursement, field sales, product marketing, managed care marketing, customer service & operations, etc.
  • Proven track record of meeting or exceeding goals & objectives
  • Business travel, by air or car, is required for regular internal and external business meetings
